What is buy and burn
Buy on the open market. Burn the tokens. Two transactions. A tweet is not a burn.
Buy and burn is two on-chain facts, not a mood. First the project (or some bot it funds) buys the token on the open market at the same price you get. Then it burns those tokens. Supply goes down. If either step is missing you are reading a caption.
"The treasury will burn later" is a wallet. A community multisig is a wallet. Sending coins to a well-known incinerator address is still a transfer. On Solana, open the transaction and look for an SPL Burn instruction. Then look for the swap that funded it. Two signatures. That is the whole religion.
Buyback is not a burn
A buyback that sits in a team wallet is inventory. They can sell it on Tuesday. A burn deletes the tokens. Circulating supply actually moves. People mash the words together because "buyback and burn" sounds like one button. It is two buttons. The second one is the only one that cannot be undone by a change of heart.
Ethereum people will talk about EIP-1559 fee burns. Different machine. Solana memecoins do not get that for free. Somebody has to buy, then somebody has to call Burn. If they only post a screenshot of a Jupiter swap, ask where the burn is.
How to read it on Solscan
Open the signature. Instruction list should show a swap (Jupiter, Raydium, whatever they used) and a Burn on the mint you care about. Click Burn. The amount is in raw token units; divide by decimals. If the mint in that instruction is not the mint they tweeted, they burned a different coin. If you only see a Transfer to some "dead" address, that is not a burn. If you see CloseAccount and no Burn, they closed an empty token account. Different instruction. Different story.
Math: burning 1 million of a billion supply is 0.1%. Put the burned amount over total supply, not next to a dollar sign. A $4,000 buy that burns 0.002% of supply is a press release.
Two burns people confuse. Burning the memecoin reduces that mint's supply. Burning LP tokens locks the pool by destroying the receipt that lets someone withdraw the reserves. Both are named Burn. They are not the same event. A team that burned LP and then tweets "we burned the token" is hoping you cannot read. A team that burned team-minted inventory they printed that morning burned nothing they paid for.
How to tell it is theater
Tiny burns against a billion supply. Burns of tokens the team minted for free, so they "destroyed" something that cost them nothing. A weekly space that says "we burned" and links a tweet. Burns that stop the week the chart dies. A "burn wallet" that still has a withdraw button if you squint at the explorer.
If you cannot open both signatures on Solscan, treat it as marketing. If the buy is a private OTC and the burn is "soon," treat it as a wallet with a PR team.
Does it pump the chart?
A real burn reduces supply. Price is still a bid. If the only buyer is the burn wallet and everyone else is leaving, you have a shrinking bag of nothing. Do not let a green check on a burn tx talk you into a bag you already wanted an excuse for.
The version that runs here
Every confirmed bid on this board is split 75/15/10. 15% buys $BEST on Jupiter at the price anyone else gets, then burns it. 10% buys whoever is #1 and burns that too. No presale, no tax, no staking, no vesting on that flow. If it is not a swap plus a burn, it is not this.
A keeper wallet does the work. It can lag. This is not a per-bid atomic burn in the same transaction as your transfer. Your SOL hits the treasury first. The keeper buys and burns in later txs. That delay is why receipts exist. Skips we already label: live freeze, transfer hook, no Jupiter route, $BEST before it had a market. Those shares show as unburned or skipped on the receipts page. We do not quietly keep them. Plug a bid into the buy-and-burn calculator if you want the lamports before you sign.
$BEST is a memecoin that launched on pump.fun. We hold it. The board spends 15% of bid revenue buying it. That is a conflict of interest. The token page says so in a large font: $BEST. No revenue share. No floor. It can go to zero while the burns are still printing.
The crown slice is why people pay for #1 instead of a 12-hour highlight. Hold the seat and the rest of the board is a drip into your mint. That is also why a frozen or hooked #1 is ineligible. We will not buy a trap for you and call it a feature. More on the seat itself: how pay-to-rank works.
$BEST IS A MEMECOIN. NO REVENUE SHARE. NO FLOOR. IT CAN GO TO ZERO.
QUESTIONS
No. On Solana a real burn is an SPL Burn instruction. It deletes supply. A transfer to a 'burn address' still exists until someone proves otherwise.
It reduces supply if the burn is real. Price is a bid. If nobody is buying except the burn wallet, you have a shrinking bag of nothing.
15% of every bid buys $BEST and burns it. 10% buys whoever is #1. Swap tx plus burn tx on /burns. Skipped burns are labeled skipped.
Live freeze, no Jupiter route, transfer hook, or $BEST before it launched. That share is recorded as unburned on the receipts page. We do not quietly keep it.
Open the signature. You want a swap and an SPL Burn on the mint they named. A transfer to a dead wallet is not a burn.
No. Burning LP tokens kills the withdraw receipt for the pool. Burning the memecoin reduces that mint's supply. Both say Burn on Solscan.
No. SOL hits the treasury first. A keeper buys and burns later. The receipts page is how you check it landed.
